West Bay_Boyd Photos West Bay Exploration Company has recently drilled 27 successful Trenton/Black River oil & gas wells in the Calhoun/Jackson Area of Michigan. We attribute this success to seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation by our geophysicist and geologists. The search for oil and gas used to heat our homes and power our lights and vehicles requires a lengthy and expensive amount of research and skill in order to achieve success. Geological study and geophysical analysis of the seismic data are the first areas of expertise used to investigate a possible area of interest. Mineral leases are taken by company representatives. Permits, site studies and other administrative work can then be arranged. Engineering and drilling at the well site are eventually accomplished. A successful oil & gas well is maintained, monitored and cared for under strict governmental requirements. A performance bond is maintained with the State of Michigan for the life of the well. A well is plugged in compliance with state regulations when it is no longer useful. In the coming months more information about this project will be available to the public. It is important to keep information confidential early in the development of a project in order to protect the company's investment of time, effort and funds. West Bay Exploration will be drilling several wells over the next few months to begin defining the extent of the reservoir discovered in the Lantis 1-29 well, Jackson Co., Michigan. The information generated by the drilling of each new well allows development of a "Master Plan". The plan will consider the best placement of wells, facilities and pipelines taking into consideration the location of housing, lakes and streams. This will include the drilling of "directional wells" to access reserves under urbanized and environmentally sensitive surface locations. West Bay will design a pipeline system to transport products and minimize truck traffic. Facilities will be landscaped to fit in with the local environment. They will be designed with ground water and secondary containment monitoring as well as twenty four hour equipment function surveillance and remote shut in capability. West Bay Exploration maintains strict requirements in the operation of its wells. All contractors are expected to maintain their equipment to MDEQ and/or MDOT requirements. Michigan and California have the most stringent regulations on oil and gas operations. Michigan operators pay 7% severance tax at the well head. This money goes to communities for parks and improvements. |
